If the parties won’t uphold democratic principles, who will?
If the voters don’t hold the parties accountable, who will?
If every COUGAR voted for McCain, it wouldn’t change a thing, today. We already have an old white guy in the white house. Really I guess we’d have to have voted for Obama or even Clinton and then it wouldn’t be an old white guy and boy we’d be really mad. For now we’ll just operate under the assumption that we are mad, and in November we’ll see where the chips lie. Lay? I’m pretty sure it’s lie.
But what our adversaries fail to realize is that it is not just we the people with COUGAR affiliations that will make the difference in November. We don’t really care about November. Right now there are TV ads and stuff and they are really annoying. It would be less annoying if they were talking about, to, for, or through us.
It is all of us, all across this great country who feel disenfranchised, betrayed and hoodwinked by Obama, Clinton, and the DNC. Guys the rules are: old white guy democrats get to have political power, the rest of you get lip service. It was working so well! What the hell, guys!
It is all of us who believe that the measure of a man is whether or not he is like us, and whether or not we think he’s ok. That people should be judged by the company they keep (and that company should be us), the truths they live by and the lies they tell (you can lie to everyone else about helping them, that’s cool, whatever, but not us, please!). Judged by whether they pander to the popular line, or take a hard stance, accepting the consequences of their actions and having the courage of their convictions. Don’t ask us to define what that means!
We are Democrats but we are not the whiney, patchouli-wearing, feminist and affirmative action kind that is so annoying. God, they are so annoying. We are far left to far right in our ideals, as long as those ideals aren’t hurting us or anything.
We are as diverse as the especially wealthy democratic men who control this nation, and we are proud of it.
We ARE a force to be reckoned with.
Why?
Simply because today, we are strong, determined and above all growing.
We have been noticed.
The sleeping giant is now awake.
It is the power of the people to make change THEMSELVES, if they really want it.
We haven’t really been noticed. But hey, if you are part of: the media, by the DNC, the Obama campaign, The RNC, the McCain campaign and or the internet: Pay attention to us too please! Come on, guys! Please? Please!
We, or one of our sister organizations really really want to be mentioned in countless news and internet articles every day. Feel free to start a sister organization. Just don’t think that because it’s ’sister’ it can be wussy or anything.
We have one intelligent, passionate and dedicated spokesperson willing to spend his time and hopefully your money to promote our cause.
The media should be seeking US out. The more exposure we get, the bigger our movement will become. That’s how these things work, media! Get with it!
We cannot count on victory through the internet alone. Hell, we didn’t even know how to use the internet until last weekend when our nephew came over and installed Firefox on our Gateway PC. Did you know Windows doesn’t even use numbers anymore? Since when does “XP” come after “2000″? The future is weird! Oh, we have to keep our movement as fresh, exciting and relevant to our goals as our goals can be, considering those goals are to make sure that nothing fresh, exciting, or relevant ever happens in the democratic party .
We must remain strong and influential to the candidates and their parties. We must reach as many voters as possible, as long as they are the important kind. You know, white, mostly. Or at least they have to ACT white. No fist bumping, that has been pretty clearly determined to be off limits. And no funny names! Adlai Stevenson and Michael Dukakis, fuck you guys. We have to do it through all avenues of information. Newsprint, radio, television, word of mouth and the internet. So if anyone has a printing press, radio station, camera, mouth, or computer with more than a 56kbps dialup connection give us a holler!
There are millions of voters out there who share our feelings but are not aware of our groups on the internet, millions of voters who may not even own a computer. We call them “people who don’t matter yet.”
Our challenge is simple. While we fight the DNC, the Obama machine, the Hillary-supporters-who-apparently-still-exist(?) machine, and its’ supporters in the Main Stream Media (MSM) love affair and their efforts to marginalize us (as they tried to do with Gravel, Nader, Paul, Biden, Edwards, Gore, Kerry, Lieberman, etc etc) we must move forward, spreading our message and ideals to whoever will listen, especially if they won’t listen, to broaden our support and participation.
Our detractors are coming after us already. They are more numerous every day. They beg us to vote for someone who isn’t a rich white guy. Or, at least, it would be pretty cool if they did.
Rich-white guy supporters; This fight is ours to win. And we will. Invite everyone you know to visit cougar08.wordpress.com and your websites. Write letters to everyone you have an issue with. Write Op-Ed’s. That’s basically all grumpy old white people do anyway, so you might as well write the letters about the stuff we want you to write them about instead of complaining about how your neighbors are raccoons or how the sidewalk in front of rite-aid has been blocked by construction since February.
Give money – give time. Give till it hurts. Give ‘em hell! Mostly money would be cool!
C.O.U.G.A.R.!.
